Meet Jim!
Jim Jensen for State Representative
I grew up on a farm in Dodge and Steele Counties, attended Claremont Elementary and High School, Rochester Junior College and Winona State College. I worked as a machinist in a factory for 6 years. I then worked as a service technician for a local company for 2 years and worked as a part-time police officer for the City of Claremont for a year and a half. I took a position as a deputy sheriff and have served Dodge County for the past 29 years. While serving as a deputy sheriff, I became Dodge County’s first D.A.R.E. Officer, setting up the program in the schools and teaching both Elementary and Junior High D.A.R.E. in the 3 School Districts in the county. I was also the first School Resource Officer in Dodge County working in Kasson-Mantorville, Hayfield, Triton, ZED Schools and assisting the private schools in the county.
I am currently the clerk on the Triton School Board and am the School Board representative on the Community Education Board. I have completed 3 terms as President of the Dodge Center Lions Club. In addition, I have served on the WETC Board, the Safety Board for the City of Dodge Center, Dodge Center Fire Hall Task Force, Dodge Center Family Aquatic Center Planning Committee, Dodge County Tobacco Coalition, Triton’s Crisis Team, Hayfield’s Crisis Team, Kasson-Mantorville Crisis Team, Zumbro Education District Board, Triton’s Technology Committee. I was a volunteer Firefighter in Claremont and an Emergency Medical Technician in Claremont, Kasson, Mantorville and in Dodge Center. I was a member of the Triton Healthy Choices Week Committee and the Triton Post Prom Security Committee. I have also been a parent coordinator and chaperone for several school class trips.
I am married and have 3 children living at home, a daughter that is married and a son who is currently working in Iraq. My wife and I teach a family class of Tae Kwon Do through the Triton/Hayfield Community Education Program. My hobbies include woodworking, Tae Kwon Do, and working on security cameras at the Triton School.
